Darling of Malayalees in 80s

Sreevidya was born on 5th July 1953 in Chennai.She was the daughter of Vikatam Krishnmoorthy and M.L. Vasathakumari.Vasathakumari was a famous singer.

As she inherited the art from her parents,she was groomed as a dancer.She first appeared in a Tamil movie when she was only 13.If THIRUVILAYADAL was her first Tamil movie,Chattambikkalyani was her first Malayalam movie.

Then there was no looking back.She became the darling of the Kerala cine goers.In eighties there was nobody to challenge her coveted position in Malayalam.She became a key ingredient for commercial success.

Films like Theekkanal,Edavazhiyile poocha mindapoocha and Kattathe kilikkoode have proved that Sreevidya can handle character roles with ease.She started representing the typical Kerala housewife.Panchavdippalam showed us her talent as a comedian.She bagged the best actress award in the years 1979,83 and 86.The role she did in Sooryaputhri still lingers in the minds of all the Malayalees who saw that film.

Erom 2000 she started acting in the serials.Till three months back,she went on appearing in serious roles.

Though she was married to a producer their marital relationship did not last long.
